Since I’m the only one in the office today, that means I get to pick the music! Usually I sit at my desk listening to the sounds of EDM drifting through the door. And while this is okay with me once and awhile, I’m more of an indie rock type of girl. So today, I chose the music.

I haven’t had a chance to listen to the Purity Ring “Shrines” album yet, mostly because I’m a failure at staying relevant these days. So today was the day, and let me tell you, I fell in love. It has a light and airy synth pop sound that made me tap my feet and do a little dance in my seat. And did I mention the lyrics? The lyrics are swoon-worthy. I’ll never be able to write anything half as good as the lyrics on this album.

I can’t believe it’s been six months since this album was released and I’m just now listening to it. NME summed it up best, saying “‘Shrines’ is a euphoric treat in its own right, made all the more thrilling by its heady potential.” If you haven’t given this album a listen, I highly suggest it.

I also decided to give the Twin Shadow album ‘Confess’ a whirl today. It has the perfect 80’s New Wave influence while still keeping things fresh. I’ve never been a huge Twin Shadow fan but today’s listen might have turned me.

And while everyone is still talking about Django Unchained, which I still haven’t seen, I’m busy listening to Django Django, a quirky quartet from London. The self-titled album is perfect for a day at the beach, which is nowhere in my near future unfortunately. The music is upbeat, poppy and fun, and I have been thoroughly enjoying it.
