Today’s Think Kit blog prompt: What did you make this year? Whether work-related or something more personal (like a song, craft project, or work of art), share your process and the end result.
This prompt is simple for me. What did I make this year? This blog.
I’ve always been intimidated to start a blog. All of the blogs I read are SO GREAT, and I have always been scared that mine wouldn’t stack up. The blogs I follow are mostly female writers and they are all amazing storytellers. The words flow so naturally, they speak so eloquently and describe situations in a way I feel that I never could. They use descriptive words that fit perfectly and sound just right. And I haven’t even mentioned the content of the blogs; these ladies always have something to write about!
When I heard about Think Kit, I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to try my hand at blogging. The things I write about for work are all nightlife related and I don’t do much creative writing, so this would be great to mix it up a little bit. So far, I’ve really enjoyed it. I’ve also surprised myself on several occasions with this blog, when I look back on what I wrote about and I’m actually proud of it.
I don’t have to be the wittiest, I don’t have to be funny, I don’t have to compare myself to others. This isn’t a competition, I’m not getting graded on it, it’s just for fun. And that’s what I intend to do here: let me brain wander, write what comes to mind and have fun with it.
Now I just need to figure out what to write about after the Think Kit prompts end in December…
